The Visual and Performing Arts Programming is a cornerstone of the L.A.C.E.R. Afterschool Programs. One of the things that makes L.A.C.E.R. unique is the fact that we employ professional musicians, writers, filmmakers, actors, dancers and vocalists as instructors in all our visual and performing arts classes and workshops. Recognizing that our student artists love to perform, we provide numerous opportunities for our students to display their work in front of their fellow students, teachers, parents and the community.
We know that the arts are a proven way to engage and involve students from all backgrounds; their self-confidence increases, they learn how to set and achieve goals and develop their talents. Our after school classes are aligned with the California Education Content Standards, so students also benefit academically.
L.A.C.E.R.'s Arts programming is a recipient of the Coming up Taller Award, bestowed by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.
