Much of the credit for The L.A.C.E.R. Afterschool Programs' success belongs to the dedicated and talented staff and instructors who are on the front line of our program, working directly with the boys and girls at each school site.  They guide, teach, mentor and help change young lives every day.  Over 50% of our instructors are bilingual Spanish/English, and our staff mirrors the cultural and ethnic diversity of our students.

Each staff member brings to the after school program a specialized skill set and a strong passion for teaching.

L.A.C.E.R.'s award-winning arts programs are taught by professional musicians, dancers, filmmakers, actors and visual artists.

The middle school math tutors are proficient in Algebra, and the high school tutors are college-level instructors.

The after school coaches were high school and college athletes themselves, and understand how team sports and recreational activities help keep students engaged in school while developing teamwork, goal-setting and good sportsmanship.

Training is a key component to L.A.C.E.R.'s success.  Each school year begins with a Staff Training where the entire teaching and program staff share best practices and receive instruction on the newest classroom management tools.  Smaller trainings in each area of specialized instruction take place throughout the year.  Many of our Senior and Program Staff have worked with L.A.C.E.R. for over a decade, starting as instructors and teaching artists, and working up to leadership roles within the organization.  And, several of our staff were L.A.C.E.R. students themselves.
